Government of India have used mobile phones to provide many services to its citizens. The latest is the launch of m – Aadhaar app which is launched by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India).

This app is very convenient and handy as it allows the subscribers to carry their Aadhaar numbers which also works as an identity card in their pocket.

The app will contain all the required information such as demographic details, name, date of birth, gender, postal address and photograph, after you link your Aadhaar with the app. And you can carry it everywhere, all the time.

UIDAI also provides lock unlock system where if an individual wants they can lock their biometric details on Aadhaar in order to protect privacy and confidentiality of their biometric data.

“If you do not intend to use your biometrics in your near future, you can lock you biometrics”

However, this facility was available only on the UIDAI official website earlier https://uidai.gov.in/ .

Now m –Aadhaar is also offering the lock unlock biometric data facility to people which will help them to prevent their biometric data from potential misuse.

Another most useful feature of m – Aadhaar is it uses two – layer authentication for safety and security purposes. First, the app allows a user to update their profile using the app, and the change reflects in the app once they are approved. It also uses Google Authenticator i.e. OTP (One Time Password) generation tool.

In order to use m –Aadhaar app, the subscriber is required to download the app and set a password, and enter your Aadhaar number or you can scan your bar code which is on the Aadhaar card as well. Once that is done, the app will send you a SMS which contains the OTP, and the app will read the OTP automatically; as there is no way to enter it manually which is also considered to be one of the drawbacks of the m – Aadhaar app.

However, if you are facing crashing problem, as the app is not reading the OTP automatically, read the below mentioned steps suggested by UIDAI:

  • Go to the settings
  • Go to permissions control
  • Go to apps
  •   Go to m Aadhaar app
  • Allow the read SMS option.
